{Benini źle rozegrała gambit hetmański, otrzymała złą pozycję i w dodatku poświęciła jakość. Mając wieżę przeciwko gońcowi, Larsen mogła łatwo osiągnąć wygraną. Wobec tej sytuacji, zwrot jakości przez Larsen był kompletnie niezrozumiały. Powstała końcówka pionowa korzystna dla białych. W tej fazie partii Benini zrobiła tyle błędów, że Larsen mogła bez trudu osiągnąć remis. Zamiast tego Larsen w pewnej chwili odwzajemniła się dużym błędem i koniec końców Benini triumfowała.
