Daisy Osakue (pictured above) finished 5th (with a personal best of 59.32) in the women’s discus throw final at the 24th European Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany on August 11, 2018. At the end, she wanted to celebrate her achievement wearing the Italian flag around her shoulders, in a powerful symbolic act welcomed by all her fans. “The final was a dream already”, she told Rai Sport, “and I seized it. I finished 5th among the first 8, and, although I was hoping to set my personal record, the result makes me quite happy. I have to improve on my ability to control my energy.
