Early Tuesday, newly-elected Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of New York’s Fourteenth District, took to Capitol Hill to join climate change protesters staging a sit-in outside Nancy Pelosi’s office, in order to call on Democratic leaders to develop a plan to switch to renewable energy. Ocasio-Cortez, however, stressed she wasn’t there to protest Pelosi herself. “This is an encouragement of her, and this is to show that we’re here to back up bold action and that she will be supported in that”, Ocasio-Cortez said.
