The position in the diagram clearly shows that Karjakin’s Semi-Tarrasch has gone terribly wrong — White to move and win: 25. Rd7! Bd8 (25. ... Nxe5 26. Nxe5 Bxg5 27. Nxg6+−) 26. Rb5 Na5. Not better is 26. ... b6 27. Ne5 Nxe5 28. Rxe5 and if 28. ... Rc7 then 29. Bxf7+! as in the game. 27. Bd5. Also strong is 27. Rxd8! winning material. 27. ... Rc7 28. Bxf7+! Kg7 29. Rxc7 Bxc7 30. Bd5 1 : 0.
