X-bar theory

Ukraininan sisters Anna Olehivna Muzychuk and Mariya Olehivna Muzychuk are among the fortunates who managed somehow to escape from the war to Spain, while however leaving their family in Lviv. On the other hand, there was no lack of solidarity in Spain with their tragedy. Last Saturday, April 2, 2022, they held, under the auspices of the Solvay Chess Club, a public meeting at the Instituto de Educación Secundaria Marqués de Santillana in Torrelavega (as pictured above, courtesy of Ayuntamiento de Torrelavega), followed by a blindfold exhibition game of the younger sister with a fellow countrygirl residing in the Kingdom of Castile.
And maybe even more importantly, in collaboration with El Secreto de la Filantropía Foundation and the chess community in Valencia, they will hold a charity gala to raise funds in aid of their people at Mercado de Colón (Columbus Market) on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 6 to 11 P.M. The day’s program will consist of a 50-board simultaneous exhibition (25 boards for each sister) and a final “solidarity dinner” given by chef Ricard Camarena at his BAR X.
