Tomorrow Never Knows

China’s diving team taking part as special guests to 天天向上 (Day Day Up), Húnán TV’s popular talk-variety show. The special was recorded today in 长沙 (Chángshā), 湖南省 (Húnán province), China, and will be broadcasted tomorrow. Of course, it couldn’t miss the “replay” of the “improvised” marriage proposal (accompanied by an engagement ring) made by 秦凯 (Qín Kǎi) to 何姿 (Hé Zī) at Rio Olympics. Photo: sports.sina.com.cn.

吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) (R.) also seemed to enjoy the show. She briefly recalled the not-so-easy start of her 18-year diving carreer: “As a matter of fact, my body was not suitable for diving, but I persevered”. Then she spoke out about her fiancé 張效誠 (Zhāng Xiàochéng), with whom she was engaged since 2010 – conquered by his voice – but secretely, until August 9, when she decided to announce her romance urbi et orbi. 天天向上 (Day Day Up)

Diving Empress 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá), together with other China’s Olympic stars, such as, among others, 林跃 (Lín Yuè), 陳艾森 (Chén Àisēn) and 秦凯 (Qín Kǎi), will take part as a special guest to 天天向上 (Day Day Up), Húnán TV’s very popular talk-variety show. The special will be recorded in 长沙 (Chángshā), 湖南省 (Húnán province), China on Wednesday, September 7, and broadcasted the day after.

The Fairy Tale Machine

The triumphal entrance of the Diving Queen 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) into the fairy tale machine of 上海迪士尼樂園 (上海 Shànghăi Disneyland Park) must mean something even to those who don’t understand the meaning. All photos: sports.163.com.

Apparently no trace of Disney’s Little Mermaid was found, or maybe the news of the newly constitute diving partnership must remain a secret till the start of 2020 Summer Olympics. Of course, I’m not a fortuneteller – I’m just guessing.

After she was awarded the “上海 (Shànghăi) Magnolia Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award” for her diving performances along a 18-year career, 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) talked to reporters about her present and future plans. Once again she confirmed her intention to retire. “My teammates gave me the nickname ‘train-aholic’ as I was always the one working the hardest in practice”, 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) said. “Due to age and injuries, I had to spend two hours on physiotherapy after training every day. Diving occupied all my life, and I go for training every time hoping not to collect more injuries”. First of all, she needs to recharge her batteries. “I feel like a sword on a grindstone. 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) admitted of being “tired”. “I want to spend more time with my parents, and enrich myself with more knowledge. I am willing to continue making contribution to China’s diving, if given a chance”, she said. It was reported that after graduating from 上海體育學院 (Shànghǎi University of Sport), she will serve as an official to the 上海 (Shànghǎi) Sports Bureau, so maybe a goal is in sight. The Chinese Olympic sports delegation of Sixty-Fours ended their triumphal tournée today, in the early morning, between 路氹城 (Cotai), 澳门 (Macau), and 横琴口岸 (Héngqín Port) in 珠海 (Zhūhǎi), China, while their popularity on social networks suddenly touched the peak of 7.3 million fans and/or followers. The customs officers asked the passengers for their documents as usual, and maybe who checked 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá)’s paper (third picture on the left) missed the opportunity of asking her to do her last dive from ferry. So today’s visit of the Chinese Olympic sports delegation to the non-profit organization 澳门扶康会康 (Fuhong Society of Macau) clarified (and simplified) at least one point: the SuperSwimmer and world-record-holding 孙杨 (Sūn Yáng) – here dancing side by side with 吴敏霞 (Wú Mǐnxiá) – also claimed the title of King of Dance!
