What did you think about her lecture?
Oh, it's a very tough test for my very poor knowledge of Chinese but one I'm more than willing to fail! It will only take me an infinity of time to do it.
I'm going to try to use Whisper (https://openai.com/research/whisper) to see if it can translate it accurately.
It appears that, although it seems to be good enough to follow the lecture, it's not very accurate.
For example, at the beginning, when the woman is presenting 侯逸凡 (Hóu Yìfán), Whisper translates a part as 'Now, Mr. Hou Yifan is the director of the Office of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Education.'
Surely that's not right, is it?
I ran it again and now it says "Now Teacher Hou Yifan is the office director of the Foreign Affairs Office of our Sports and Education Department."
Oh, one would not believe how many wonderful things can happen as one is disconnected for a few hours!
I just look forward to the day when 侯逸凡老师 will run for FIDE President!
