It matters little that the 1st China Chess King Tournament in 成都 (Chéngdū) was won by 余泱漪 (Yú Yāngyī) as all eyes were on 17th World Chess Champion 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén), finally back at the board after a very long absence. However, rust inevitably made itself felt and, after yesterday’s victorious début in the quarterfinals, his rush ended today in the semifinals, where he lost to 王皓 (Wáng Hào), only to then lose the third-place final to 韦奕 (Wéi Yì). “This was a good warm-up for me”, 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén) said afterwards. “I am going to go to the Netherlands and I hope I’ll get better and better”.
In any case, 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén) is still a coveted prey to autograph-hunters. Photo: 陈甘露 (Chén Gānlù)/封面新闻 (West China City Daily). |

I'm glad he played this so that his participation in the Tata Steel Chess Tournament is worthwhile!
I'm also happy about 余泱漪 (Yú Yāngyī); he performed really well in the World Rapid Chess Championship.
Yes, 余泱漪 (Yú Yāngyī) is usually very strong and stable, while as for 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén), whatever he may have suffered during the last year, one cannot but wish him health and success!
