17th World Chess Champion 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén) is taking part in the two-day inaugural China Chess King Tournament at 成都 (Chéngdū), 四川省 (Sìchuān province), China, in fact a training zwischenzug before his grand rentrée into chess society. As is known, 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén) was absent from competitions for eight months because of physical health problems. “It’s better to play where I want to play”, he said after the opening ceremony. “I hope 2024 begins with good auspices”.
Here, finally, 丁立人 (Dīng Lìrén) is standing on centre stage amidst Chinese Chess Association’s top officials 田红卫 (Tián Hóngwèi) and 叶江川 (Yè Jiāngchuān), as well as a lineup of fellow Grandmasters that includes 韦奕 (Wéi Yì), 余泱漪 (Yú Yāngyī), 王皓 (Wáng Hào), and 卜祥志 (Bǔ Xiángzhì).
